About Healthier You
Small steps make a difference. They can add up to big changes. Whether you struggle with chronic health conditions or simply wish to optimize your health, this newsletter provides important information that’s vital for good health. In it I write about health and wellness measures from the conventional medicine, integrative medicine, functional medicine, preventive medicine, lifestyle medicine and health coaching fields that can often make a difference. I will also be sharing a wealth of information from my own personal experience. When you acquire the information you need, and use it to make personal health choices that are best for you, it’s possible to start seeing positive changes—one small step at a time.
About Elizabeth Smoots
I am a board-certified family physician with special interests in integrative and functional medicine, preventive and lifestyle medicine and maximizing wellness for women, men and teens. As a graduate fellow of Dr. Andrew Weil & Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, I have received comprehensive training in integrative medicine. The specialty of integrative medicine looks at both conventional and alternative approaches to health conditions. I am also an Institute for Functional Medicine member and an IFM Certified Practitioner. Functional medicine is a holistic, lifestyle approach that seeks the root causes of illness and dysfunction. Additionally, I have certifications as a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach and as a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach. I am the author of Allergy Guide: Alternative & Conventional Solutions and previously wrote the Practical Prevention syndicated newspaper health column. I have also owned and directed an engaging and motivating prevention education program that other physicians have used to educate their patients about staying healthy, fit and well.
