What is 2026?

On July 4, 2026, the U.S. plans to celebrate its Semiquincentennial, or Quarter Millennial. This day will mark the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. The Second Continental Congress of the thirteen American colonies announced that it had declared independence from England on July 4, 1776. Even though the 250th anniversary of that historic day is coming up in only a few years, many Americans have been voicing their concerns: “Will America survive that long?” “What is happening to our democracy?” “Why is our nation being trashed?”

The truth is that the United States of America is in the throes of a cultural revolution. Following much the same pattern as Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution in China, a long march of leftist ideology through our institutions has been ongoing for decades. In the past several years, this cultural revolution has achieved dominance in our federal government bureaucracies, universities, K-12 schools and many other institutions. The goal of the revolutionary ideology is to dismantle U.S. democracy and all of the freedoms, civil rights and liberties granted under the U.S. Constitution. Ultimately, the plan is to force “America the Free” to become like numerous other unfree nations in the world.

2026 aims to help ensure we make it to America’s 250th anniversary intact. In-depth articles and concise bullets delivered to you at least twice a month will increase your awareness about the current threats to democracy. You will broaden your skills for identifying, naming and discussing the main menaces so you are less at the mercy of propaganda and biased reporting. In addition, you will gain important insights on some of the ways you can lend your assistance, alongside many other concerned Americans, to push back against these perils.

One voice is puny. But millions of Americans working together, each doing what they can, have the power to turn this destructive force around. Above all else, 2026 is for those who value democracy.

Who is Elizabeth Smoots?

First and foremost, I am an American. Beyond that, I am a writer, columnist, editor and author. I enjoy researching a topic and distilling it down to the key points. Explaining the kernels of truth as succinctly as possible appeals to me. As a physician, most of my writing has been about health and wellness. My syndicated newspaper column Prevention & Wellness and my book Allergy Guide are just a few examples of my widely published work. I’m currently expanding into politics because someone needs to. In this arena, I’ve contributed to the Wall Street Journal, the Journal of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, and a public university extension education program.

But I’m still just one more someone. Since the job of pushing back against America’s Cultural Revolution isn’t getting done effectively, we need an army of somebodies. Everyone can contribute what they do best. The time for apathy is over; we must take action while we still have the freedom to do so. I’m doing what I can and I’m hoping—when armed with a better understanding of the situation—you can do the same.
