So many people ask, "What is my purpose? Why do I exist? Why am I so restless? Why am I so anxious? Why am I so angry? The reason is clear. You were created by God for Himself and your heart is restless until it rests in Him(St. Augustine). He loves you beyond measure and the proof of that is the giving of His only begotten Son, who was tortured and crucified that your sins would be forgiven and you would have a chance for Heaven. But this is not automatic. You must obey His Commandments. You must love Him with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Almost as important, you must love your neighbor as yourself. That also means loving your enemies and doing good to those who harm you. None of this is necessarily easy but it is what is expected of us. If we did all these things do you think there would be totalitarianism in the world? I think NOT.

Thanks for your beautifully written comment. Totalitarianism is the opposite of Christianity.

"The population’s frustration and aggression can now be taken out on the object."

That is the description of the literal "scapegoat".

Yes, the people in and on the right will become the scapegoats for the ills created by the people on the left, in the process of the leftists creating totalitarianism. It could well happen.

History repeats. It could happen again today as it has happened many times in the past.

The beginning paragraph is a problem. Totalitarianism peaked under Biden and started with Obama? So it hasn’t peaked under Trump? I would rethink that. If you mean restrictions due to Covid was totalitarianism that was not motivated to manipulate or sieze power. You just need to reflect what freedoms we lost due to Covid and did they last for the duration and did they have the same flavor as what is currently present under Trump.

You might think so if you believe what you read in the mainstream media. The mass media usually plays a large role in creating the conditions for totalitarianism, as detailed by Desmet in "The Psychology of Totalitarianism."

I agree that Desmet has important things to say. I also agree conditions have been right and I have noticed for several decades that elections have consistently been very close. It might be related to how both parties are being controlled by wealthy donors. With Trump it’s like the Oligarchs have come out of the closet. But there’s no denying Trump is far more authoritarian than Biden or Obama. You might have to go back to Jimmy Carter to find a president less influenced by oligarchs.

We just had a demented president who was not able to make decisions on his own. Who were the oligarchs who were telling him what to do? Obama, Kamala Harris, George Soros, and Bill Gates are just a few of the leftist elitists that come to mind.

I really don’t believe I was so out of touch to think that Biden has some kind of dementia for his full presidency. I believe it came on suddenly. I know other seniors and have witnessed how dementia can set in quickly. Using the word demented is disrespectful in my view. Biden may have been midguided in some areas but he was a success at n many other ways. And yes we he American system is seriously damaged. The super pac is insane. It was never as obvious as with Trump and Musk and admittedly Kamala Harris, but it has been around far too long. Fair elections started a serious downturn with GW Bush against Gore. The contributors to Harris campaign were Dustin Moskovitz (Facebook co-founder), Reed Hastings (Netflix co-founder), and Jeff Lawson (Twilio co-founder) and Trump had Dick Uihlein, Musk of course and casino owner Miriam Adelson. Both sides had significant dark money support.

I agree that we need to eliminate PACs and super PACS. Perhaps you would prefer a euphemism for dementia such as cognitive deficit or senility. I have read that Biden exhibited signs of a cognitive deficit while he was running for the 2020 election. These were covered up by the mainstream media and left-wing strategists. You are right that his cognitive impairment got much worse during his presidency, though it was once again covered up as long as possible. Thank you for your list of campaign contributors on the left and right.

Spying on Trump before his first run, use of media to support Russia collusion, attempts to impeach Trump, attempts to prosecute Trump, raiding his home, using the IRS to go after Conservative PACs under Obama, using FBI to “ convince “ Twitter, Facebook to ignore Hunter laptop, January 6th overreaction and prosecutions are all examples of authoritarian control. We just had an administration with a demented president who was not able to make decisions yet we were kept in the dark. This is Orwell. Who was running the government? Trump is being very aggressive and authoritarian in his response to his four years looking at what has happened to USA when Biden took over. There are a lot of questions to be answered but it’s clear the Democrats leftists took politics into this mess
