His name is so well known that many, if not most, Americans are aware of him. “There is quite simply no man in politics more influential than George Soros in terms of his wealth, his direct global sphere of influence, and his indirect influence from the political infrastructure he’s built over his lifetime,” says Matt Palumbo in The Man Behind the Curtain: Inside the Secret Network of George Soros.1
After very successfully making money in banking and investments and as a hedge fund manager, multi-billionaire George Soros donated the bulk of his billions to his non-profit Open Society Foundations. This is the key organization he employs to exert his far-left political influence.
“The degree to which Soros has infiltrated virtually every aspect of public policy is alarming and should cause great concern for every American,” says former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.2
U.S. institutions and policies
Here is a summary of the U.S. institutions that George Soros influences and the policies he promotes:
U.S. elections and politics: Soros heavily funds left-wing Super PACs and advocacy groups, using them as vehicles to influence U.S. elections. As opposed to regular PACs, Super PACs have no limits on fundraising or political spending. His donations supported the election campaigns of John Kerry in 2004, Obama in 2008 and 2012, Hilary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020.3 He was also the largest individual donor in the 2022 midterm elections.4 As for Soros’ policies, here is a sampling. He advocates for internet regulation and online censorship. According to Palumbo: “Soros wants to stifle free expression on the internet on the basis that it will protect freedom of expression on the internet.” In addition, Soros has been instrumental in increasing refugees to the U.S. and thwarting both the implementation and reform of immigration laws. He funds activist groups that try to block the enforcement of election integrity laws, falsely claiming the activists are “fighting voter suppression.”
Higher education: Soros is committed to building institutions to advance his leftist agenda. “A revolution needs new institutions to sustain the ideas that motivated it,” says Soros. His Open Society Foundations fund many U.S. colleges and universities, particularly for the study of race and ethnicity, social justice, critical theory, implicit bias and the abolition of law enforcement. Bard College in the U.S. and Central European University in Europe have been major beneficiaries of donations from Soros. In addition, he has made large donations to Harvard, Princeton, Columbia University, Duke University, University of California, University of Connecticut, Ohio State University, Arizona State University and many, many more.
The media: Funding from Soros influences most media in the U.S., including newspapers, magazines, TV, radio and social media. The list of media funded by Soros or with known Soros connections include the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Associated Press, LA Times, Seattle Times, USA Today, ESPN, ProPublica, YouTube, ABC, CBS, CNN, PBS, NPR and many more. These well-funded media outlets often use a proven propaganda tactic. They spread unified and coordinated false narratives repeatedly until members of the public think: “I have heard this many times, so it must be true.”
Local politics: Acting through the Open Society Foundations, Soros donates money for defunding the police, dismantling law enforcement and prisons and “reimaging” public safety according to his vision. For the past decade he has backed local prosecutors who don’t enforce the law. These prosecutors quickly release criminals—even those with repeated offenses, despite the danger to the public—and are indifferent to skyrocketing crime rates. Instead, Soros-backed prosecutors favor the abolition of the criminal justice system.5
U.S. Organizations
Soros funds a multitude of left-wing political activist groups to do his bidding. The Man Behind the Curtain provides a 21-page appendix with brief descriptions of organizations funded directly by George Soros. Many are well-known names like the American Civil Liberties Union, American Federation of Teachers, American Library Association, League of Women Voters and the Brennan Center for Justice. Others have euphemistic names like the Alliance for Justice, America Votes, Campaign for Better Health Care, Center for Constitutional Rights, Color of Change, Center for Social Inclusion, Democracy Now!, Ploughshares Fund and Public Citizen.
False antisemitic defense
Despite this vast political power, any criticism of Soros is labeled “antisemitic” by his supporters. This is bogus. George Soros is a political mastermind who is not Jewish by faith. He was involved in helping the Nazis confiscate possessions from his family’s Jewish community during the German occupation of Hungary in WWII.6
Goals and policies advanced
“Above all else, Soros is a globalist who believes that the world should be a ‘global community’ as opposed to individual sovereign states,” says Palumbo. This requires the replacement of individualism with conformity. Soros aims to destroy the concept of individual nations, especially in democratic Western nations such as the U.S., so leftist elites can gain control of the entire world. In this respect he is in tandem with the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, which he regularly attends. The jet-set attendees at Davos enjoy red meat while promoting a ‘sustainable and inclusive” future—one where everyone else must eat bugs, not drive anywhere and “be happy.”
Anarchy and a Marxist revolution have been unleashed on the United States in recent years with the support and funding of George Soros and other leftist elites. A leveling of society is their goal in order to bring forth a global “utopian” society. In a political spectrum depicted as a circle, George Soros’ ideas fall at the bottom of the circle along with fascism and communism. His legacy is a unique blend of totalitarian ideology. As in all forms of totalitarianism, the rules of Soros’ utopian collective are for the masses, not for the masters. The workers must do as they’re told.
At age 92, Soros has now turned his focus toward planning his legacy. He recently granted control of his $25 billion empire to his leftist son, Alexander Soros. In addition, he has trained and installed leftist elites in his Open Society Foundations and the numerous U.S. institutions and organizations it funds.7 What are George Soros’ intentions for the future? As stated by Soros himself: “My goal is to become the conscience of the world.”8
My goal is to become the conscience of the world. —George Soros
These words sound chillingly like Big Brother in 1984, the classic novel written by George Orwell about the communist dystopian society of Oceania.

How can you become "the conscience of the world" when you do not have a conscience, or at best a poorly formed one?
As horrific as Soros' assault on freedom is, he adds insult to injury by naming his abomination the "Open Society" thus spitting in the face of Karl Popper who was a champion of freedom and an anti-Marxist.
Soros went so far as to use his wealth to republish Popper's great classic The Open Society and Its Enemies originally published in 1945. Soros even added to it a foreword written by himself, the arch enemy of the Open Society and everything Popper believed in. Soros is pure 100% evil.
